Population Services International (PSI) is a global nonprofit organization that focuses on improving health outcomes in low- and middle-income countries by making it easier for individuals to lead healthier lives and plan the families they desire. Founded in 1970, PSI operates in over 50 countries, addressing a range of health issues, including sexual and reproductive health, maternal and child health, malaria, and non-communicable diseases.

In DESIP programme, PSI brought its extensive experience and technical expertise to advance the program’s goal of increasing access to FP services in underserved areas of Kenya.

Key Contributions

1). Adolescent-Centered Programming:

  • Recognizing the unique needs of young people, PSI designed innovative programs that increased access to FP services for adolescents.
  • It used technology and youth-friendly approaches to overcome barriers to contraceptive uptake among young populations.

2).  Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MEL):

  • PSI led the development and implementation of robust MEL systems to track program performance and ensure accountability.
  • It conducted research and shared insights to inform best practices and policy advocacy for FP services.Technological Innovation:

  • It leveraged technology to enhance program reach and efficiency, such as digital platforms for FP counseling and data management.
