Who was involved

DESIP worked with the following individuals and groups to ensure successful implementation of the programme.

Development Partner(s): The FCDO provided the resources for implementation of the DESIP programme in addition to continuous guidance and direction in implementing the programme. UNFPA was engaged by FCDO to undertake procurement of FP commodities for the Kenya Government.

Government: The programme collaborated with the Division of Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health in the Ministry of Health at National Level to implement DESIP programme. DESIP provided logistical and technical support for development and revision of policy documents; development and review of the annual work plans especially family planning; accountability and coordination forums such as technical working groups and other meetings; and advocacy for domestic financing. At County level, DESIP worked with the Department of Health leadership i.e., County Health Management Teams to strengthen planning, financing and coordination of family planning services.

Implementing Partners: DESIP was implemented by a consortium led by Population Services Kenya (PS Kenya), in partnership with Options Consultancy Services, Faith to Action Network, Health Rights International, Voluntary Service Overseas Kenya, Population Services International and AMREF Kenya.

Beneficiaries: The programme targeted the women of reproductive age with focus on underserved populations such as adolescents, poor women and persons with disabilities.
