Learning Agenda
The concept is based on the philosophy that learning is continuous in an environment where knowledge gaps are objectively identified, measures designed, and knowledge artifacts produced to facilitate meaningful learning. DESIP Adaptive Learning concept applied a six-step approach to collaboration, learning, adaptation, and monitoring
- Apply assessment findings to identify areas for learning at DESIP, the learning areas were informed by the baseline information conducted by DESIP (including SEGA).
- Conduct learning agenda-setting with the learning audience
- Implementation of action plans to facilitate the collection of information for learning
- Organize monthly and semi-annual Knowledge Harvest Conferences to share learning outcomes, guide further learning questions, and integrate findings into DESIP activities
- Adapt change concepts based on conference outcomes, deciding on implementation plans for identified learnings.
- Produce knowledge artifacts (such as abstracts, posters, and policy guides) and begin a new learning cycle, ensuring the dissemination of these products internally and externally as per DESIP policies.
Learning questions were designed to support DESIP’s goal, which is to ensure that women and girls can safely plan their pregnancies and improve their SRH. The ultimate outcomes are:
(i) Equitable increase in the use of modern contraception.
(ii) Increased public sector resource allocation for FP and procurement of FP commodities.
(iii) Increased reproductive choice of women and girls.
(iv) Increased couple years of protection.
(v) Increased number of FP additional users for marginalized groups.
To build the evidence base for ‘what works for FP in DESIP Counties, the Learning Questions cut across Service Delivery, Demand Creation, and Sustainability
- Learning questions 1: Uptake of a Structured On-Job-Training Mentorship Approach for Increasing Long-Acting Reversible Contraception Service Delivery and Coverage by Health Care Workers
- Learning questions 2: Community Health Volunteer’s Demand Creation Initiative of the Manyatta Model to Promote Uptake of Family Planning
- Learning question: How Does Community-Based Distributors’ Linkage to Health Facilities Influence the Uptake of Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC)?
- Learning question 4: Does clarifying the scriptural basis for child spacing by faith leaders improve the uptake of Family Planning services by clients in the targeted counties?
- Learning question 5: Does capacity strengthening in social inclusion positively influence health providers’ attitudes and behavior towards service delivery to persons with disabilities?
